St. Valentine just doesn’t understand the way we do,
There is no inner knowledge of our love, so true!
Chocolate candy melts away as our passions grow,
Flowers wilt and die as our love never will.
We formed our love in the heat of life’s distress,
Sharing slowly our pain fore we shared deep caress.
Valentine’s Day may bring some pathetic hallmark card,
Yet we are not tied to a flowing fancy phrase.
Look beyond the passions attempted between two hopefuls,
As it transpires before our eyes it seems to pathetically unfold.
Teddy bears, lingerie or other gifts that hope to prey,
Upon true love are shallow attempts that miss the spot.
Nice as these Earthly treasures may seem to be,
Nothing in our commercial world comes close to you and me.
Sadly, poor St. Valentine simply does not understand,
What makes you and I the strength we’ve combined to be!
Cupid, pull back your bow…aim your arrow…my love…you hit my target!
Always, you and me! Valentine passes, not you and me!
Always you and me!
